A vigilante has been jailed for headbutting a suspected paedophile after using a fictional 14-year-old girl to lure him into a trap.
Andrew O'Neill was approached by a vigilante group in Wigan Town Centre expecting to meet a teenage school girl who he had been grooming on an on-line dating website.
But the girl did not exist and instead his correspondence with the girl was in fact with the vigilante group.
A video which shows the group approaching Andrew O'Neill was posted on Facebook with the tag "NWI Nonce Busters", referring to the right-wing group, the North West Infidels.
Daniel Holding, of Bridge's Street, Atherton, who is part of the vigilante group, yesterday pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was jailed for eight month at Liverpool Crown Court following the assault on O'Neil, who is believed to have sustained injuries to his mouth in the attack.
