Four men, all in their 20s, who were in the house at the time of the raid are set to be quizzed by police in the next few days.

The drugs and the knives have been sent off for forensic tests, police said.

Sergeant John Kennedy, of Hyndburn Police, said: “The raid came about after several pieces of good community intelligence that the occupants of this particular address were actively dealing drugs and cars were seen to come and go throughout the day.

“We forced entry to the property and found a fairly large quantity of suspected class A drugs and a number of large knives.

“We also found quite a high value quantity of clothing from a shop that had been reported stolen.” He said.

“There were a number of people in the address who will be interviewed in due course.”

Sgt Kennedy said the police relied on people to let them know about suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhoods.

He said: “The public are our eyes and ears and we’re only as good as the information that comes forward. It’s crucial that people feel confident enough to tell us and that we are seen to act on that information.”

Anyone with information about criminal activities in their neighbourhoods should call 101.
