SCHOOL leavers at Fred Longworth High school are celebrating after another excellent set of exam results.

Excited students arrived to collect their results to see what they had achieved on Thursday morning hoping to have got into their choice of college.

There were some outstanding performances and a bumper crop of A* and A grades with 67% of pupils achieving five or more A* to C's including English and Maths and some talented students came away with a clean sweep of A* grades across all subjects.

Headteacher Mrs Garretts said: “We are delighted to be able to announce another set of excellent results and are pleased that our students continue to perform well in the current climate of increasing rigor.

"Staff and students have clearly worked very hard to achieve these results and deserve to be congratulated.

"Well done to all concerned.”

Head of year 11 Jackie Killey said: "It's been a five year journey for these guys and I feel like like are my babies.

"I am very proud of them, they have worked incredibly hard."

High Flyer Lee Darbyshire received six A* and two A's and is going on to study at Winstanley College.

The 16-year-old said: "I want to study Biology, Physics, maths and further maths and hopefully become an accountant or go into something to do with biology."

Head boy Bradley Fisher, aged 16, achieved seven A's and two B's and is taking his A levels at Winstanley College.

He said: "It's been wonderful and I was head boy here so that has been great.

"As long as you do your revision and listen while having a laugh you will do well.

"You've just got to enjoy it."
