A BRIDEGROOM who died while celebrating his stag do is to be laid to rest today.

Father-of-one Dale Joint, aged 24, died after hitting his head near to moored boats in the Salthouse Dock in Liverpool on August 22.

Mr Joint's body was recovered from the water after an "extensive" search and he was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, but later pronounced dead.

His funeral is being held at Leigh Parish Church on Wednesday morning, followed by a crematorium at Howe Bridge.

Friends and family are also invited to his wake held at Leigh Miners Welfare Club, with donations requested for the Huntington's Disease Association.

Following his death, tributes poured in for the family man from his football team Leigh Genesis, Asda work colleagues and former school, Bedford High.

In a post on Facebook his aunt, Gaynor Isherwood said Mr Joint had been due to marry fiancée Katie Marie McNamara a fortnight after his tragic death.

The couple also had a young daughter called Amelia.

In a post on Facebook before the funeral, Ms Isherwood said that words could not describe their loss.

She added: "Thank you all so much for your kind words. It really is comforting to us all. I just had to say it. Much love."

On his Twitter page Mr Joint had the quote "family is everything" under his profile picture and proclaimed his love for his future wife with a post of June 22 which read: “Sat in work thinking about how excited I am to get married to the most wonderful girl on Earth.”

His fiancée, Katie Marie McNamara had also written about her partner and wrote that she "could not wait to be rid of the name McNamara" so she could have "the same name as her little family and build a happy home".
