CHRIS Green was one of the MPs who voted against a proposal to allow 3,000 children from European refugee camps to enter Britain.
The Conservative MP for Bolton West, which covers Atherton, took part in Monday's vote, which saw the proposal rejected by 294 votes to 276.
Save The Children, an international children's charity which supports emergency and long-term relief and development projects, labelled the decision ‘deeply disappointing’.
Campaigns director Kirsty McNeill said: "Across Europe thousands of these children are alone and frightened as they go to sleep on roadsides, in police cells and in informal camps.
"This problem isn’t going away, it is getting worse."
