THIS week we take a trip back in time to see how Leigh’s high street looked back in 1955.
The picture shows a bustling Bradshawgate, which has certainly changed a lot since then.
The postcard shows a host of shop fronts, including Melia’s General Stores and Bowen’s Stationers on the left and Price’s Bakery, Darwell’s Wine and Spirit Merchants, Woolworths and Boots on the right.
A Leigh Corporation bus can also be seen in the background, with street lighting on wires overhead.
n If you have a photograph you would like us to use in Look back at Leigh, send it to newsdesk@leighjournal.co.uk. Please include your name, address and a daytime telephone number, plus details of when the picture was taken and what it shows.
