A FACEBOOK post praising the high level of customer service shown by a fast food worker from Leigh has been shared more than 7,300 times.

Chris Winnard, who works at the McDonald's restaurant in Bradshawgate, impressed customer Louise Woodward-Styles with his enthusiasm for his job and his actions in helping a disabled woman to a table.

So much so that she posted a picture of the 30-year-old from the Butts Bridge area of Leigh and heaped praise on the standard of his work for the fast food giant.

Chris is delighted that the post has been such a hit – and so is his manager.

“It is great to hear direct from customers that I am doing well at my job," said Chris, who has only been working at the restaurant since April.

"To be praised like that is amazing. It has given me a real sense of achievement.

"I do take pride in my job. I like to go the extra mile and thrive around customers.

“It is important to make them feel welcome and make sure they want to come back."

The post stated that in the space of an hour Chris assisted an elderly man to his seat and called him sir and greeted every customer with a smile and a hello or goodbye, as well as helping the disabled woman to a table.

Ann Joyce, the manager at the Bradshawgate restaurant, said: “My team are like my family so I'm really proud and we are pleased with this feedback.

“It is lovely that Chris has got recognition for the work he does. Often people are too quick to criticise the staff working at McDonald’s so it is wonderful when people get picked out for doing something well.

"Chris is a hardworking and thorough employee who is keen to learn more about the job and understand why we do things the way we do.

“I can't believe how popular the post is on Facebook. Everyone wanted to tell me that they had seen the story online."

Louise's post read: “Not once did he bemoan or look uninterested. It is people like Chris that make me proud of the young people in this country.

“He is working for a living, clearly enjoys his job and it is so refreshing to see when I hear and read others belittling those who work in fast food outlets."
