A FOUR-year-old boy has had to undergo major surgery after a large cast-iron railing fell on him and sliced off a chunk of his forehead.

Dominic Keegan underwent a two-hour operation at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital following the incident near to a bus stop on Golborne High Street at around 4pm last Monday, June 13.

The Golborne Community Primary School pupil is now recovering at his Abram home but has bumps and bruises, black eyes, lots of stitches and has been unable to move one of his eyebrows.

His family fear he may have suffered lasting nerve damage but will know more when they take him back to hospital on Thursday.

Transport for Greater Manchester, which maintains the borough's bus stops, said: "We are very sorry to hear of Dominic's ordeal and hope he is able to make a fully recovery.

"Transport for Greater Manchester carried out an investigation as soon as we were informed about the incident. This has concluded that the railing is not part of the bus stop and is not owned by TfGM.

“We are happy to speak with Dominic's parents about this.”
