The 22-year-old, of Whalley Road, Accrington, graduated from UCFB in Burnley last year with a BA in football business and marketing.

After leaving she secured a position at CANW, the Wilpshire-based charity which provides foster care and a range of support and wellbeing services to help improve the life of children, young people and families across East Lancashire.

Since joining she has been involved in a number of campaigns including 1,200 Lights, which raised awareness of the need for 1,200 extra foster-care families in the North West. The campaign saw some of the region’s best-loved attractions fall into darkness to highlight the plight.

Her day-to-day work includes providing marketing, communication activities and campaign support for all the charity’s services.

Ms Crossey said: “I learned from all my placements and opportunities at UCFB that I have a passion for people, and after graduation from UCFB I was very lucky to have gained an amazing graduate opportunity at Child Action Northwest.

“I am very fortunate to have gained a great mentor and director at CANW who is supporting me in reaching beyond my potential.

“My aim is to continue to try my best at CANW and support services knowing that I am helping support the charity make a difference to young people across the North West.”

Martin Hartley-Smith, business and marketing director at CANW, said: “Chelsea has been a real breath of fresh air, proactively looking at how we can improve our marketing activities. She is always so positive and willing to get stuck in to any task that she is given.”
