RESIDENTS of all ages can enjoy a free family fun day as a range of activities event will be set up alongside the guided busway The event, organised by Wigan Council in partnership with other organisations, will take place on Sunday August 7 from 11am till 3pm along the busway path.

The fun will start on Holden Road, Leigh and continue through to Tyldesley where people will be able to enjoy a range of activities and events including bike rides, a teddy bears picnic, guided walks, free security bike marking and a raffle.

The pathway has been popular with residents since it opened in , with cyclists, walkers and horse riders regularly using the path.

Friends of Lilford Park will also providing an orienteering course.

Cllr Kevin Anderson, cabinet member for environment at Wigan Council, said: “The guided busway is proving a great success for passengers commuting in and out of the borough.

“But the pathway next to the busway also offers a wide range of benefits to residents and we want more people to know about it and take advantage of it.

“We would encourage people of all ages and abilities to come along to the family fun day and find out for themselves what a great addition to the local area the pathway is.

“It is safe and traffic-free and offers an excellent safe route for cyclists, joggers and walkers of all ages as well as horse riders.”
