AN Atherton singer is celebrating after his boy band hit all the right notes in their latest audition in this year’s X Factor.

Yes Land members Sonny Hardman, Cian Gleeson Luke Gregory, Joel Healy and Lewis Maxwell impressed judges with a colourful audition on Saturday and are now one step closer to the live shows.

They face the notorious six chair challenge this weekend.

Sonny Hardman, of Car Bank Street, says he is excited but daunted at the prospect of having to face the challenge next week, where each category will be whittled down to just six acts.

The band, who were put together by Take That’s former manager Nigel Martin-Smith earlier this year, have so far soared through boot camp and were trending on Twitter on Saturday.

Sonny, 19, said: “It has been incredible so far and it seems like everyone likes us there, from the judges to the other contestants so we are in a good position.

“The next stage is so exciting but daunting because throughout the competition so far we have not been in front of an audience.

“I just hope the judges and the audience can see how much this means to us and that we really want this and will work hard.”

With Sunday's show showing selected highlights, viewers did not get to see how boyband got on but the group later appeared on the sister show, Xtra Factor.

It showed their audition singing Shawn Mendes' hit Stitches, which got them through to the next stage and won praise from Nicole Scherzinger.

She said: “This group, these boys, I am so impressed with them."

Former Bedford High School student, Sonny added: “To get good feedback from Nicole was crazy, I mean it is Nicole Scherzinger, she is amazing and she is a great singer too.

“Before this band I did not have any experience with music as a career but I came into this and it has been amazing “I see the lads more than most of my family and other friends now, so it is great to do this with four of my best friends and to have each other’s backs.”
