THIS week we take a look back at a 1960s photograph of a bespoke tailors in Leigh.

J and E Collier’s was based on the corner of Union Street and Lord Street after the business was brought by Joe and Edwin Collier for £1,000 on New Year’s Eve in 1956.

The shop was demolished in 1964 and is now the site of a Yates' pub.

After Joe’s son Malcolm retired, another family took over the business, which moved to new premises on Lord Street, where it remains today.

The picture was taken by Leigh photographer Watson Rayner.
