A CARE home has been rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection.

Ash Tree House, a residential and dementia care home based on Warwick Drive Hindley, received the great marks last month in all five key areas of care: safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.

During the course of the visit, the CQC inspector spoke to members of staff, residents and relatives and also completed a walk round the facility to get a full overview of life at the home.

The report was complimentary about all areas of the home, particularly towards the staff .

The report said: “All the people we spoke with were positive about the care and support they received which was also reflected in the comments of relatives.

“Throughout the inspection we observed positive interactions and staff members were friendly, kind and respectful and took time to listen to what people had to say.”

The inspector also noted that staff spent time with residents, both talking and laughing, giving reassurance where necessary.

One resident said: “The care I got after my fall was excellent; I would not have made the progress I have without their help and care."

Kathryn Disley, manager at the care home said: "I am so proud to have achieved such a glowing report from the CQC inspection.

The teams’ efforts and dedication to their residents is second to none and the staff make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

“The report just proves that Ash Tree House is a great place to live and I am aiming for our next report to be Outstanding.

“We have the team, the beautiful building and the dedication to make that happen.”

The inspection also noted that residents benefitted from a wide range of daily activities including bingo, crafts and board games as well as also regular pop-up restaurants and trips out.

Ash Tree House is operated by Ideal Carehomes and provides care for 60 residents.
