A MAN from Leigh has been jailed for causing grievous bodily harm in a knife attack.

Ashley Derek Kelshaw, of Gordon Street, was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Bolton Crown Court on Friday after being convicted of two offences.

On September 25 the 33-year-old unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to Ashley Geraghty and had armed himself with a kitchen knife in a public place, namely Gordon Street.

He was sentenced to six months in prison for carrying the knife and 21 months for the attack on Mr Geraghty, as well as forfeiture of the weapon.
