A DISTRAUGHT woman is appealing for help in getting back jewellery that was stolen from her home which has huge sentimental value to her.

A range of small items with low monetary value were taken from her Slag Lane property in Leigh shortly after 9am on November 29.

The burglary has been reported to police but the woman, who fears a repeat raid and does not want to be named, is asking residents, shops, pawnbrokers and people at car boot sales to keep an eye out for the stolen jewellery.

She has photographs of the items taken.

The woman said: "I have had a lots of small items stolen, but all of them are of low value, and to be honest the most important piece is my late mother's watch and a couple of children's watches, which were not worth very much.

"Before my mother died I left the watch in a pocket of her dressing gown and put it into the washer and dryer.

"It still worked after it came out, and we laughed about it.

"Even though it was then scratched all over, my mother still wore it.

"It was worth pennies but I can never replace it.

"If we can catch this low-life trying to sell any of the distinctive jewellery, maybe we can stop them from doing this to someone else."

If you know where any of the stolen items are call police on 101 or the Journal's news desk on 01925 596421.
