A HOME and garden centre is taking its lead from a renowned national dog show by hosting a mini Crufts event.

It will be held at Bents Home and Garden in Glazebury next Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12.

The centre will have its own show ring complete with winners’ platforms and prizes will be handed out for the top three dogs in 10 categories: cross breed beauties, modern breeds, finest senior (aged nine and over), most expressive, junior (aged six to 18 months), puppy love (under six months old), small breed dogs, rescue/rehomed dogs, extra large breeds and adult (aged 18 months to nine years).

There is a £1 entry charge per class, which will be donated to the RSPCA.

Anyone wishing to enter their dog for the annual event must register them at The Pet Place at Bents. Places are limited.

Representatives from Tyldesley Veterinary Centre will judge the event and present the prizes.

Winners will be announced at 11am, noon, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on both days and all winning dogs will take home a dog bed and a grooming voucher to use at The Pet Place.

Bents is also holding a pet photoshoot for a donation to charity, with all participants entered into a mini Crufts Facebook competition.

The winner, chosen on the number of likes generated, will be given a £400 portrait experience, with £250 vouchers going to those finishing second and third.

The photographs will be taken throughout both days.

The Pet Place is also hosting a weekly puppy hour starting on Monday, March 13, and its next guided dog walk through Windy Bank Wood will take place on Friday, March 17.
