CAMPAIGNERS at Accrington’s community shop One Planet are calling for support in aid of its Fairtrade drive.
The Abbey Street store will be hosting an open tea evening on Thursday, March 2, from 4pm until 6pm.
All products on offer will be Fairtrade
Kerry Gormley, shop manager, said: “The food on our tables, the tea and coffee in our mugs, all come from farmers who work hard but are not paid what they deserve.
“We have been campaigning for Fairtrade since we opened six-years-ago, and have learnt what difference it makes around the world.
“Yet, not enough people are buying Fairtrade and not enough farmers are benefitting from it.”
The event is being held as part of the annual fairtrade fortnight campaign which is running until Sunday, March 12.
The campaign works towards developing the living wage for producers in developing countries.
