The Greyhound Hotel on Warrington Road failed to have a qualified lifeguarding working at its Escape Zone swimming pool on six dates last year, September 12, 13 and 24 and October 1, 6 and 10.

That included six counts of failing to have an appointed person trained in pool rescue and available to respond immediately to deal with an emergency at the Escape Zone, which also houses a gym.

Other offences included failing to have in place and implement adequate steps to eliminate or control risks, contrary to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, and failing to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety of persons other than its employees at the Escape Zone.

Here For You Hospitality Ltd also admitted charges of failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all its employees by not providing suitable and sufficient training for staff members at the Escape Zone and by not having a Pool Safety Operating Procedure in place.

The case was adjourned until Tuesday, August 22, when a district judge will sentence Here For You Hospitality at the court.
