A FAMILY fun day and dog show has been organised to raise money for a greyhound charity.

Makants Greyhound Rescue North West in Tyldesley will hold the inaugural event at Astley Street Car Park from 11am to 4pm next Sunday, October 1.

There will be a dog show with two rings to enjoy as well as a bouncy castle, a range of stalls and a tombola.

A spokesman for the self-funding charity said: "We are holding our first dog show to raise funds for the greyhounds in our care and to connect with the community.

"We are also hoping to raise awareness of what gentle, trusting souls greyhounds are and how they make excellent pets – contrary to popular belief they do not need a great deal of exercise."

Food and drink will be available to buy at the event, as will dog food and accessories.

Makants has rehomed more than 190 greyhounds since the charity was formed in December 2013.
