FIRE crews tackled a blaze which broke out at a house due to a faulty electrical socket in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, November 22).

Three fire engines attended the property on Hulme Road, Leigh shortly before 5am.

Greater Manchester Fire Service confirmed the blaze had been caused accidentally by the electrical fault.

They said: "The cause of the fire was accidental, due to a faulty electrical socket. To extinguish the fire firefighters used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus.

"A ventilation fan was used to clear the remaining smoke.

"Firefighters remained on the scene for 30 minutes."

The fire service has not reported any injuries from the incident.

Three fire engines from Leigh, Atherton and Hindley fire stations were called to the scene.
