AN age-friendly organisation has celebrated its second birthday with a party at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute.

Ambition for Ageing, which is supported by the Big Lottery Fund, hosted the party for around 200 people at the Kirby Road venue's upstairs ballroom and invited its volunteers, residents and members of the community.

Samba drums community group Drum Krazy also attended to give guests the chance to showcase their musical talents.

The volunteer-led Age UK project works with people over the age of 50 in Atherton, Leigh and Pemberton to combat social isolation and make communities more age-friendly.

Food and entertainment was on offer for guests as well.
