THE future of a retail development at Botany Bay could be decided next week.

Chorley Council’s development control committee will be discussing the masterplan for the area off Blackburn Road.

The plans include two proposed housing developments of up to 100 and 188 dwellings on land at Blackburn Road in the vicinity of Botany Bay.

There is also an application to create retail space, which would include a hotel, nursery and associated car parking provision, as well as “infrastructure and ancillary development”.

The final proposal would see the creation of 300,000 square feet of employment space on Blackburn Road.

The scheme was expected to be discussed at last month’s meeting but councillors opted for a site visit

The scheme has been put forward by HOW Planning on behalf of FI Real Estate Management. It is almost 12 months since the project was made public and Ellis Williams Architects posted information about the designer outlet Village on their website.

It claimed it ‘will create a distinctive; new build retail led mixed use development of the highest quality, attracting leading brands to Chorley and creating a unique visitor experience’.

A spokesperson for FI Real Estate Management said: “We have been continuing to work closely with the Council and stakeholders over the past months to ensure all aspects of the application have been thoroughly considered and as such we hope for a positive outcome at Tuesday’s planning committee.”
