A 45-YEAR-old man who died after his three-wheeled motorcycle collided with an oncoming lorry yesterday has been named.
Michael Veevers died in Royal Preston Hospital after the collision in Burnley Road, Bacup at around 3.40pm.
Garage owner Mr Veevers, who had been riding the bike, ran Fast Line Autos in New Line Industrial Estate, Bacup and was a dedicated Burnley FC fan.
His son, named locally as Dean Veevers, 19, was a passenger on the bike and is being treated for leg injuries.
He is in a stable condition at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The pair, from Bacup, had been riding towards the town when they collided with the lorry which was travelling in the Burnley direction near to the Deerplay Inn.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which left the road closed for three hours while accident investigators carried out their work.
Sergeant Gareth Hill, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward if they have information.
“The roads would have been busy given the time of day this incident occurred and for me to establish what happened I would ask people to come forward.”
Coun Jimmy Eaton said: “He was a nice lad and the family will be struggling to come to terms with this.”
Today Mr Veever’s family were too upset to speak.

Always sad when something like this happens, particularly to a fellow biker! - I am aware that as he has not yet been named it could possibly be a friend or someone we knew, but even if not, R.I.P fella. ride free now. - Hope the other guy pulls through and our condolences to all affected by this.
