Is it just me or is Christmas moving further away from December 25th? and just an idea to save money, why not leave the lights up all year round, and have shops playing festive songs in July. Bah Humbug

How much is Blackburn with Darwen paying Vickers to switch the lights on?
Or is she doing it for free?

I applaud Burnley Council on their decision not to waste a fortune on X factor wannabies, I don't want my Council tax paying for someone's inflated ego.

Also the event is aimed at families with young children, if you want something for more adult tastes go to Blackburn.

Nelson has no-one to turn on their lights, I wonder if they will turn themselves on?
Although at least they're not wasting money on talentless idiots.

Blackburn with Darwen are making a big thing of the Christmas light. Dianne Vickers in Blackburn along with supporting act. Same Difference plus supporting acts in Darwen. I'll bet their combined fees will be more than the pathetic display is worth.
All the council employees lined up for the push will be chuffed to bits.
Why not ask one of the soldiers from our local regiment to do the honours,he or she would be more deserving and the council could then donate a few hundred pound to a forces charity.
