THOUSANDS of people are expected to fill the streets on Sunday to witness and participate in Remembrance Day services and parades.

Those who lost their lives fighting for their country will be honoured at events in Leigh, Tyldesley, Atherton, Golborne, Hindley and Culcheth.

LEIGH. Assemble Ullswater Street at 10.15am for 10.30am parade to the war memorial, Church Street via Railway Road, Market Street, Lord Street, Charles Street and Church Street for a service. Deputy Mayor of Wigan Cllr Joy Birch will lay a wreath. Afterwards a salute will be taken on the Town Hall Square.

ATHERTON: Assemble at Formby Hall at 10.15am for 10.30am parade Alder Street, High Street, Tyldesley Road, halting at Baptist Church memorial, proceed to Market Street and Leigh Road to the war memorial. Afterwards the parade will be dismissed at Formby Hall.

GOLBORNE: Assemble at Legh Court car park, Legh Street at 2.15pm. A service will be held at 2.30pm at Golborne war memorial, Barn Lane where Mayor of Wigan Cllr Michael Winstanley will lay a wreath.

HINDLEY: Assemble at Market Square, Cross Street at 10.30am. Procession leaves at 10.45 am proceeding along Morris Street to Wigan Road for a service at the war memorial outside St Peter's Church. The procession will continue Atherton Road and George Street for a service at All Saints Church followed by dispersal on the Town hall car park.

TYLDESLEY: Parade assembles at Market Square at 10.20am proceeding at 10.25am along Elliott Street, Manchester Road and Hough Lane for service conducted by the Rev Chris Straton and wreath laying at the war memorial in Tyldesley Cemetery. On return a salute will be taken at Tyldesley Town Hall.
