DODGEBALL players in Burnley and schoolteachers in Bacup are set to share in the latest £1million handout from the Awards for All programme.

Nearly £10,000 has been given to Burnley Ultimate Dodgeball, the reigning North West champions, as part of the National Lottery backed programme for May.

Last October, the under-18s Burnley club defied the odds to be named the region’s best, despite their oldest player being only 11.

Their £9,840 grant will be spend on recruiting new volunteer youth leaders to take themselves to the next levels, as well as six laptop computers and the services of an IT tutor.

Elsewhere, St Saviour’s Primary, in Bacup, has been given £5,136 to purchase computers, laptops, run an IT club and launch a community laptop loan scheme.

And Burnley Enteprise of Sport and Training was awarded £9,950 to deliver IT sessions and healthy living workshops.
