MURDER, mystery, pipes and drums helped make Tyldesley 2012 a huge success.
A week long series of events organised by The Friends of Tyldesley Library ranged from Lancashire cookery, a guided walk around town highlighting bygone Tyldesley, a murder mystery evening, folk songs with Bram Taylor to story time and a party for infants.
The week ended on a high note featuring music and dance on the Square with Bolton Scottish Pipe and Drum Band, a display by Tyldesley Marionettes, street dancing, singing by Krissjan Jade and "The Voice" contestant David Julien.
Face painting, balloon animals and Punch and Judy with Uncle Chris kept the youngsters amused and the whole event was presided over by MC Barrington who did a great job entertaining the children and presenting the acts.
"We would like to thank the staff of the Library, and all the volunteers who helped throughout the week, also the Wigan Cultural Olympiad, our local Councillors and everybody who gave donations so that we were able to hold so many events," said Friends spokesman Jill Davies.
"MP Andy Burnham opened the show and he stressed the need for libraries to stay open, a sentiment echoed by the Friends. We trust that Tyldesley 2012 will show the community what can be done."
