PARALYMPIC swimmers Heather Frederiksen and Louise Watkin are carrying high the GB medal hopes of London 2012.

The Leigh duo have undergone a gruelling, intense programme in preparation for their events.
GB coach John Stout said: "Our job is to prepare them for the biggest event of their lives, nothing they have ever experienced will match the drama, excitement and tension of a home games. This is our country and we aim to help the athletes deliver their greatest ever performances.

"Most athletes are now in their tapering period and so our sessions will generally be for just over an hour in the pool and then 20 minutes of strength and conditioning work. Team Paralympics GB are supported by team doctors, nutritionists, physiotherapists, masseurs, physiologists, team managers and technical support staff who all play very important roles in the team dynamic.

"The girls' preparation is falling nicely into shape after a bit of a bumpy ride which I find is most usual when starting the final taper preparation phase of the training cycle."
