GOLDEN girl Heather Frederiksen's Paralympic feats will go down in history. Almost before she emerged from the swimming pool after her victory in the 100 metre women's backstroke event the gold paint had dried on what is now the most famous post box in town.
Royal Mail has made available a gold medal stamp to celebrate Heather’s gold medal which will be on sale in over 500 Post Office branches. It has carried out similar post box painting and issued stamp to commemorate the marvellous achievements of the nation's Paralympic champions.
Journal photographer Ian Park captured Stephanie Taylor checking out the golden box situated near the Boar's Head in Market Street, Leigh to mark Heather's fantastic achievement.
