LEIGH Journal reader Ashish Bansal captured this photograph of the meteor shower which caused panic in the town.
Emergency crews being called to reports of ‘fire in the sky’ on Friday night following a call from a worried resident.
A crew from Leigh Fire Station were sent to Westbourne Avenue at 10.30pm
Thousands of people in the north west reported seeing balls of fire in the sky late on Friday and even though astronomers had not been expecting a meteor shower.
The Met Office said it was believed to be a meteorite breaking up in the atmosphere.
