BUS drivers are often criticised as being unhelpful and surly, but Geoff Wiggins proved he certainly isn't when he rushed to the aid of a pensioner who had fallen.
He halted his bus and went to help Bob Bantock, aged 76, who had tripped while hurrying to try to catch the bus.
After boarding, Mr Bantock realised he had lost his glasses in the fall and asked Mr Wiggins if he could watch out for them. He did this and managed to find and recover them on his return journey.
Quite rightly, Mr Wiggins has been rewarded for his behaviour and First Bus has given Mr Bantock a month's free travel.
We are quick to criticise public transport yet we should be just as forthcoming with praise at times like this.
