Congestion charging (taxation, nothing more than yet another excuse to rob the taxpayer of even more money) is nothing more than a con trick.
Look at how much of our money the government has thrown at Northern Rock. Yes, that little bank that nobody had heard of.
Just look at airport taxes that are supposed to be an environmental levy. The plane still flys. The plane still pollutes. Nothing has changed. Except . . . the government gets richer so it has even more of our money to waste on Iraq, Afganistan and second homes in London.

Manchester (unlike London) will die as a centre of commerce and business if the government has its way. That means lost revenue. That means higher taxes and road charging for something we already pay for through our road tax, which should we need reminding, has just soared through the bonnet along with massive increases in fuel and therefore more duty to the government.
Don't let the government or Bolton Council do this, otherwise Bolton will die as well. Bolton councillors will retire well on our council tax money while the rest of us will hunt for scraps in the ruins that was once Bolton, the largest town in England.

Oh! how I agree with you Bill. But people are so complacent they can not get it into their heads that we will continue to be 'fined' or taxed for everything this government can think of. This bin nonsense for example. How much you put in or if the lid is closed etc is a classic example- not of a government gone mad - or should I say as well as a government gone mad also a government hell bent on taxing everything it can grab. So they will continue to have someone sitting in the nether regions frantically thinking up other ways to deprive people of their hard earned cash. While they who are responsible for the invasion of Iraq grab all the money they can get with expenses and wage rises. So leaving us to pay for their mistakes and we are too stupid to protest. And this will continue till people get it through their heads - we are paying billions of pound in taxes, erosion of living standards, and NHS failings etc because of Iraq and our continued occupation. Which is in order to protect financial market interests and the building contracts making a fortune at rebuilding what it cost us THE BRITISH TAXPAYER billions of pounds to destroy. The war itself was a disgrace so it could be argued that by not protesting strongly enough it is our own fault that we are now paying the price. But none the less our continued occupation is compounding the error and it is only we who are paying the price. While those responsible for that disaster continue to feather their own nests. Raquel.
