Farnworth-born football legend Alan Ball has been honoured with a blue plaque on the house where he was born.
Famed for his tenacious workrate, he was remembered for his fantastic performance during England's 1966 World Cup win, which won him the man-of-the-match award.
Alan died almost a year ago at his home in Hampshire after suffering a heart attack while tackling a fire in his garden.

He was always proud of his roots and for a while, when he was professional, he remained living in the Farnworth area.
Now to honour him the blue plaque has been erected at the house in Brookhouse Avenue where he grew up.
His relatives still live in the area and many footballing fans have fond memories of him.
Despite being famously rejected by Bolton Wanderers for being too small, he proved that through talent, lots of determination and sheer hard work, it is possible to achieve your dreams.
