IT has taken a long time, but common sense has finally prevailed and the Sukula family have won the right to stay in Britain.
The Sukulas arrived in Bolton in 2002 after fleeing persecution in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, where they feared they would be killed were they to return.
After they were initially refused asylum, The Bolton News launched a campaign to persuade the Home Office to grant them the right to stay.

Now the Government has said they can remain indefinitely and the joy felt by the family cannot be underestimated.
They have lived in fear for more than half a decade but now feel they are safe and have a future.
Many people have concerns about the numbers of asylum seekers, but a family living in constant fear of death in their homeland should definitely have the right to seek a better life elsewhere.

I'm sorry but common sense certainly hasn't prevailed in this case. Whilst nobody decent would want this family to come to any harm, how can they be genuine asylum-seekers when they have travelled half-way round the world to get here,if genuine they would of gone to another African country.
When will politicians realise this country is over-populated and cannot provide services such as health, housing, education, benefits for the whole third world, who would also like to come here.
I find it outrageous that this family have been living off our charity/benefits and yet still have several more children to add to their already large brood, expecting us to pay for them. What a cheek they have.
These people should be helped in their own country/continent and this is the view of the silent majority!
