INDEPENDENT shopkeeper David Bridge has vowed to fight a giant supermarket chain which is about to open up just yards from his own store.
Despite a 340 name petition councillors approved the Tesco Express application for a store in Manchester Road, Westhoughton.

Of course there is a plea for supermarkets, but it will be a sad day if our small shopkeepers disappear from the high street.
Local businesses, like Mr Bridge's shop, Here to Please You, are often the lifeblood of small communities where the income from the business is more often than not spent locally on suppliers and services.
