COMMENT: Time to get behind the Wanderers

TODAY the Wanderers can take another big step in their fight to avoid relegation from the Premiership.

They have a difficult task in facing Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, which makes it even more necessary that the whole town gets behind the team.

Only a few weeks ago many fans had given up hope that the Whites could secure their future in the top flight, but two successive and hard-fought victories have put them on the brink of Premiership survival. With just three games to go, every point is vital, starting with today's match.

This is not the time to be sniping at the team or manager Gary Megson - if anyone feels the need to do that they should save their venom for the end of the season. At the moment, the team and manager need all the support they can get. Come on you Whites!

In terms of Boltons long history these rank amongst the most successful,
unfortunately there are a few shortsighted supporters - many with big mouths and little brain who can't see the wood for the trees.
Perhaps in four years time when we languish in division three they may just begin to realise these were the halcyon days.
Get behind the Manager and the team.

100 % agree Mr editor. I think the ones that matter the most are the true heroes who are travelling to the game today, a victory for them will be the least they deserve. I hope they are the 12th man again and support the players no matter what, even if we start of s*ite and our striker misses a few chances. A win today and for me it's in the bag and we are safe. Come on Gary and the boys, do it for the lads and lasses with fear upon the faces. staying in the premier league to see the Reeboks aces.

we can do it...

Couldn't agree more. Is it me or have there been significantly less posts on here over the last few weeks? Defeat today and it'll be packed again. Some people are up and down like a fiddler's elbow.

Supporters go to the matches and back the team but on a forum website are they not allowed to voice their views? Free speech and individual opinion is what makes this country Great. So yes encourage the fans to get behind the lads but don't stop them from reflecting their feelings on the web.

COME YOU WHITES!

Don't mind people expressing their opinion at all - in fact I positively welcome it. Just urge people to make their comments in some context of the longer term history of the club. In this country, we used to laugh at how Spanish football was ran - i.e. 3 lost games and your sacked, etc. However, football seems to be full of this shortsighted approach now. Steve is right. The last few years have been glorious and the comments I make are within that context.

Utter nonsense. THESE ARE THE WORST DAYS OF OUR BOLTON SUPPORTING LIVES! Because we have never had such a negative manager as this, or a chairman so accepting of negativity. We have decent players, but most are sat in the stands and so want to leave. This is the worst time I have known in my 30 years as a fan, never before have I wanted the manager to fail.

I'm not interested in what happened 2 or 3 years ago, I'm interested in what's happening to our club now with Mr Negative in charge. "Glorious" it most certainly is not. We have just named the worst attacking line up in 30 years and even if we win 1-0 with a backs to the wall performance, I dont want this man picking our team for the 1st match of next season, whatever division it is. We havent named such a poor line up because we dont have the players, but because this is the football that Megson wants to play. Its not about results, I dont expect to win many Prem games, its about wanting to compete and make a game of it. PS I'm typing on here to keep myself occupied coz I cant bear the tension of the 3 matches that matter today!

Difficult to understand the reasoning behind the editors piece. The fans don't need to be told to get behind the team. What must they have felt when they went to Portugal only to see the reserves come running out.
It is not the hard working, ticket buying Bolton people who need to be told the obvious but the owner and the chairman. BSA was given no choice but to leave. He had produced a top eight premiere league team without the financial backing he could rightly expect. And when it was obvious that in Jan 07. the team badly needed new blood he was told, sorry no cash. Gartside then appointed Lee and then Megson. It is these decisions that have put us were we are today. The editor of the town newspaper should use his position, not to lecture the fans but to support them in their rightful demand that if the Wanderers do scrape through, Gartside and Megson will still have to go.

so the bn slag the fans off and therefore their readership, great pr, still all to play for, megson made a great start but appeared to completely lose the plot for nearly two months, footballs a results game, look at avram grant, zero to hero, so belt up evening news and megson, do the business and the 'sniping' will end, much better spirit from team, even megson is at least making positive substitutions. that still doesnt make this a good appointment if we stay up, because we should already be safe, look were we were after reading away, stop going on about we were bottom when megson took over, one year utd were bottom after first few games, they went on to win the championship.

So come end of the season when Smehgead wants to build his own team of players he buys - this leaves from this season...........

Matty Taylor (not bad)
Gretar Steinsson (good player)
Tamir Cohen (help me, please on this one!!!)

Rasiak will be more than likely the first buy (I have seen better Polish plumbers kicking a ball than this fool!!!!)

So where this leave the rest. The rest are players that Megson inherited and as such players he did not choose. Does this mean that they are all up for sale or not going to be signing new contracts?????

This is where Bolton is, at the present moment in time.

Nolan thinks he is safe - remember Megson did not buy you, so are you safe, Nolan?????

At the start of next season, IF Megson is still in charge we are going to have a negative game week in week out, played by a majority of negative who will be to overwhelmed by the style of play in the Premiership, managed by a negative manager who is supported by a negative Board.

This is the future whilst Megson and Gartside are still in charge.

100pct behind the present set of players on the pitch (and off - except for Polish waster Rasiak) but -100pct behind Megson, Gartside and Curtis!!!

But he hinted at a summer shake-up when he spoke of his desire to put his own hallmark on the club rather than being judged on his record with a squad made up almost entirely of players recruited by his predecessors, Lee and Sam Allardyce.
How can anyone get behind a manager, at this stage of the season, when he is basically threatening to sell the players that go out and try to win games. How the players feel, never mind the fans? Can the BN ask questions like this, or does the paper not ahve the nerve to ask sensible questions and instead print this rubbish (local paper not helping to support its local fans but would rather support a negative team that WILL send the club into oblivion - if not this season but definitely the next!
