Winter Hill Guides
More than 300 Girl Guides from all over Bolton and South Bury joined together and hiked to the top of Rivington Pike on September 28.
Angela Neat, Press and PR rep for Girlguiding Winter Hill Division, sent us this report and pictures:
While waiting for everyone to arrive Lotty (a 20th Bolton Guide) suddenly exclaimed "wow, don't the lights look pretty".
She was admiring the view from the bottom of the Pike looking over Bolton towards Manchester. By 8pm everyone had arrived, turned on their torches and wearing glow sticks started to make their way up the Pike. Suzanne (one of the organisation team) was at the back of the walk and could see the snake of different coloured light winding their way up the path.
She said: "What a wonderful sight, all the lovely colours."
Once everyone had made the climb three girls from 54th Bolton Guides made their Guide promise and then it was time for the decent.
The steps going down were a bit tricky to negotiate but everyone made it down safely to enjoy a pasty supper at the bottom.
Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would like to say a big thank you to the Guiders and people who did all the organisation and running of the event.
