ANDY Burnham came to Bolton town centre on the final day of the Greater Manchester mayoral election campaign.

The Labour candidate was joined in Victoria Sqaure by some of the party's top figures in Bolton, including Parliamentary candidates Sir David Crausby and Yasmin Qureshi, and spoke to members of the public outside the town hall this lunchtime.

Voters will go to the polls tomorrow to elect the first mayor of Greater Manchester.

Mr Burnham said: "My final message to the people of Bolton is to get out and vote tomorrow and break the London-centric politics that we have in this country.

"We can give Bolton and Greater Manchester a stronger voice on the national stage and, if elected, I promise that I will be a mayor for all and that Bolton will get its fair share of the devolution deal."

The mayoral election count will be held in Manchester on Friday.

Sir David added: "I believe it is important to come out and meet the public like this, rather than just flying in on a helicopter for 15 minutes.

"Tomorrow is the first time Greater Manchester will have elected a mayor and it offers a chance to take power from the top.

"Far too many resources are concentrated in London and that has to change, so we need a strong voice to argue for a proper share for Greater Manchester."
