SIR David Crausby MP has welcomed the Government’s U-turn on scrapping housing benefit for 18 to 21-year-olds.
In a statement parliament Pensions Secretary Esther Mcvey confirmed claimants in the age group would now continue to receive housing benefit as normal under Universal Credit.
Sir David said on Twitter: “Pleased to see the Government back down on this. Cutting support based on flawed logic has caused unnecessary hardship for many for young adults.”
The announcement is a major policy climb down for the Government.
