A TOWN centre pub has been granted permission to install four new gaming machines.

Members of Bolton Council’s licensing committee approved the application for the gambling machines at Hogarth’s, in Churchgate.

Customers will be able to put on a maximum stake of £1 and there is a maximum prize of £100.

Cllr Sue Haworth spoke in support of the application. She said: “I have been to this establishment myself in the past and I’m aware of the size of the establishment and that tables outside extend the patronage”

“I’m happy to support it, it’s a town centre establishment and one of the larger town centre establishments.”

Cllr Kevin McKeon was also in favour. He said: “I’m not a big fan of these machines, I don’t think they should be in any establishment where people are drinking, especially in the town centre. But they are a type of machine in all the other venues, I think we have missed a trick on that one by not stopping them.

“It’s the same in any bar you would expect.”
