BRITISH Airways is set to stop direct flights from Manchester to New York.
It leaves only Delta operating flights to JFK from Manchester and Continental Airlines to Newark.
The daily flight will now move to Heathrow, meaning Greater Manchester loses another BA service from its airport.

BA says "commercial reasons" are behind the decision, claiming the route was not profitable.
BA has also announced it is increasing services from London to JFK with daily flights from Gatwick.
Richard Critchley, of Greater Manchester Chamber, said: "We would have thought that, as the national carrier, BA would want to serve Britain's second city. We urge BA to think again."

Or maybe Terminal 5 is costing a huge amount of money and we need you travel through Heathrow so that we can maximise revenue.
It would be interesting to know what the average percentage of seats filled is on these flights.

BA know that people who need or want to go to the US of A will mostly have to go through Heathrow. This will increase the cost by an extra £100. This happened to me last year when I went to the continent. Plus I had an extra 5 hours waiting time.

Officially by Parliament it is now classed as the second city, but it is also unofficially.
Basically it is tied with Birmingham - in terms of space and population it is Birmingham, in terms of financial clout it is Manchester - all depends on which point of view!

Disgusting place, We always fly from the London Airports for two reasons:
1) By flying from London I avoid Mancunians, especially the likes of Fiddy!!!
2) The shame in having to admit to anyone that you go to Manchester.

Hopefully British Airways will now change their name to London Airways as that is the only region its serves (except for the shuttles to London)
Maybe trading standards should look into this misrepresentation better still Brussels.

You seem to be traitor to ALL northern people by travelling through London - remember Manchester International Airport is PART-owned by Bolton MBC (along with the 9 other councils of Greater Manchester) - so really you are taking money away from Bolton (a town you so-call love!!!!)
Also....
You seem to be a very negative person these days cow-head?
What is the matter?
Maybe I can help with your problems - you know a problem shared is a problem halved?
I can help you seek the light at the end of your dark turbulent tunnel, if you let me. Once on the other side you will realise what a wonderful release it is.
Being friendly in today's world is very priceless and so is enriching people's knowledge of the world.
Give it a go and see how surprised at today rich variety of life and most of all see how much you will learn from the experiences.

Amateur, I am always friendly towards genuine Westhoughton and Bolton people.
Alas, I cannot say the same about Mancunians because I despise the place.

BA should be brought to book for deserting the rest of the UK for London, I would never fly from another airport when Manchester our own airport serves all the destinations we need. Cow-Head what a biggoted nob, small minded and probably small in the underpants dept.
