THE Bolton News and Bolton Council have teamed up with Bolton Wanderers to kick off a World Cup-themed competition, with a great prize up for grabs.

The competition is for residents to come up with slogans for a series of posters to be displayed all over the borough.

The World Cup-themed posters centre around children playing football and show the potential health risks to children if owners don't pick up their dog's mess. They are aimed at persuading owners to clean up after their dogs.

We are asking people to come up with snappy captions or headlines for the posters - up to a maximum of 8 words - and if your caption is chosen, it will be used in the posters which will be displayed all around Bolton.

The person who comes up with the winning headline will score a top prize of two official England kits and two tickets to a Bolton Wanderers home game, while five runners-up will each score prizes of a football each.

To enter look at the posters here. Come up with a caption or headline and email it, along with your name, address and contact details to Email us at newsdesk@theboltonnews.co.uk.making clear which poster your caption is for.

Please mark 'World cup poster competition' in your subject line. The closing date is 9am on Friday, July 2.

Cllr Sufrana Bashir-Ismail, executive member for Cleaner, Greener, Safer at Bolton Council, said:

"Dog fouling is an area of serious concern for residents and the council receives over 500 complaints a year about the issue.

"We hope that these posters will make people think twice and take responsibility for their own dog waste, but we need your help. We've got a brilliant prize package on offer thanks to Bolton Wanderers and I wish everyone luck in the competition."
