Barefoot runners to descend on Brighton
5:50pm Thursday 27th January 2011 in News By Siobhan Ryan, Health Reporter
Runners are being urged to throw away their trainers and take part in the first Barefoot Brighton race.
The event on May 1 comes hot on the heels of the Brighton Marathon in April and is organised by the UK branch of the Barefoot Runners Society.
It is hoped those inspired by both the marathon itself and the half marathon next month will help increase the numbers turning up to take part or watch.
Local businesses could also benefit as the society is inviting people across the UK to take part.
Runners can take part in either a 1km or 5km race during the event at Stanmer Park, depending on their experience.
Anyone interested in taking part can email martyncandler@talktalk.net for more information.

The street cleaners are pretty quick with rest of it, but a little dog poo goes a hell of a long way & they can't do a lot about it, nor the pavement pizzas.
Good luck to them all though.

Why am I not sad that I moved out of central Brighton? These events may be great for visitors and traders, but spare a thought for the residents who actually live there.
