AN EXHIBITION of the 20th Century's most important books is touring schools and libraries.
Bromley Mayor Councillor John Holbrook launched the Books that Shaped a Century, exhibition at Bromley Central Library, in Bromley High Street.
It forms a chronological exhibition of 105 books by 96 authors, from Joseph Conrad's Lord Jim to Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom, published from 1900 to 1994.
The exhibition is based on the judgements of an international panel of publishers, libraries and booksellers who made a list of 20th-century books they thought had most influenced people in 1994.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Langley Park, the exhibition is currently running at Hayes School, in West Common Road, Hayes, until January 25, and will be at St Olave's School, in Goddington Lane, Orpington, from January 28 to February 1.
