Council awards grants to senior citizens charities
TWO charities for elderly people in Westhoughton have received funding boosts.
Senior Solutions were awarded a grant of £2,000 at tonight's meeting of Westhoughton Town Council.
They intend to use the cash to pay for a Christmas party for members at Brookfield Hall in Peel Street.
Menawhile councillors also agreed to give £1,000 to the Westhoughton Age Support Project.
Cllr David Chadwick paid tribute to the work done by both charities.
He said: "We are very fortunate in Westhoughton to have May groups who literally work their socks off to make life better for people.
