THE entries of a Bolton MP’s Christmas card competition have got on display in Westhoughton Library.

Julie Hilling, MP for Bolton West, opened the exhibition with competition winner Marley Cornerford and his family.

The cards will be up for visitors to see until Thursday, January 15.

Ms Hilling has praised the record sixteen schools who entered her Christmas Card competition.

The MP, who the competition annually in her constituency, asked all primary school students to send in their designs with over 1,200 young people in Bolton West entering the competition.

Westhoughton High School hosted the presentations with all winners and runners up receiving prizes.

The overall winner was St James Primary School (Daisy Hill) pupil Marley.

Ms Hilling said: “It was great to have a record number of schools for this year’s competition. Thank you to Westhoughton High School for hosting such a wonderful event to present the winners and runners up with their prizes.”

“We had so many schools enter this year we had to have one event for the winners and runners up instead of going around all the schools. Everyone who entered the competition will get a certificate for their work and well done to them.

“I have been so impressed by the quality of the entries this year. All the young people entering have put in so much hard work. I was proud to use the winning cards on my final Christmas card.”
