WORK has started on transforming an empty warehouse into Bolton’s first trampoline park.

Active Entertainment Ltd are converting an industrial unit on Wingates Industrial Estate into a state-of-the-art trampoline park called Air Vault.

The new centre, which will offer a range of fun trampoline-based activities for adults and children, utilising a 700sqm jump zone, is on course to open in time for the October half-term holiday.

Bury-based contractors Jigsaw are carrying out the building work, which is costing £160,000 and will take six weeks to complete.

The project includes the fit out of the trampoline zone, the installation of a 1st floor mezzanine, café counter and party rooms, new and extended toilets, a first aid room and lift access to the first floor.

The finished facility will feature inter-connected trampolines, angled wall trampolines, tumbling trampoline lanes, curved and double-curved trampolines, dismount platforms, foam pits, slam-dunk basketball hoops, a dodgeball court and a separate area for parents and toddlers.

Andrew Caldwell, of Active Entertainment, said: “Work has started on the transformation of the site and if all goes to plan then our aim is to open in time for the October half-term.

“We anticipate the refit will take approximately six weeks from start to finish.

“A lot of hard work has gone in to get us to this point but now that the contractors are on site, everything is starting to feel real.

“After months of careful planning, it’s so exciting to see our vision becoming a reality and we can’t wait to open Air Vault to the public.”

Trampoline parks are a relatively new phenomenon, with only a handful currently open in the UK.

Andrew added: “We firmly believe this is going to be a major asset for Bolton because there’s nothing else like it in the area.

“We’ve been inundated with requests about birthday party packages and fitness classes through social media and we haven’t opened yet so we’re delighted with the interest people are showing in our plans.”
