A KIND-HEARTED volunteer spent his 94th birthday fundraising for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
Cedric Biles, a long-time committee member of the Bolton District branch of the RNLI, celebrated his special day recently collecting money for the cause, with staff members at Sainsbury’s in Westhoughton.
He spent a total of seven hours fundraising at the supermarket in Cricketers Way and collected £496.
And staff at the store presented Mr Biles with a birthday cake.
Tom Ridyard, chairman of the Bolton District branch of the RNLI, thanked everyone who donated. He said: “Mr Biles dedicates a lot of his spare time to fundraising for the RNLI and puts reaching this age down to meeting and being nice to people.”
