A 12-YEAR-OLD boy who collided with a car near a busy junction is in a stable condition, police have confirmed.

The youngster was involved in an accident with a black Citroen DS3 while trying to cross Bolton Road from the direction of Cherwell Road, in Westhoughton.

Police and ambulance crews attended the incident just after 2pm yesterday and the boy was taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for treatment.

He is understood to have sustained a broken leg in the crash but did not suffer life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

An eye witness, who asked not to be named, told The Bolton News that the boy had been ‘shaken up and upset’ but was breathing while being treated by paramedics at the scene.

Residents in the area said motorists trying to turn right on to Bolton Road from Cherwell Road had their view of oncoming traffic blocked by vehicles parked outside a property on Bolton Road.
