A VACANT plot of land in Westhoughton could soon be home to a number of new industrial units.
Plans to erect six new units on land in James Street, at the Westhoughton Industrial Estate, have been submitted to Bolton Council.
The applicant, Mark Rushton, says the plans would provide a boost for local businesses.
A statement sent to the council’s planning office said: “The application site has remained vacant and unused for some considerable amount of time, so it should be considered that the proposed development will bring an increase in employment to the local area and improve the visual appearance of Westhoughton Industrial Estate from James Street and Long Lane.”
It adds: “The proposal could allow existing businesses to expand and to remain in the same industrial estate, while allowing new businesses to rent out the existing smaller or starter units.”
